Hello world!

Rebeka is a DTS student with YWAM Lutsk
My name is Rebeka and I am a DTS student in Lutsk this year. I am originally from California, but I have been living in Ukraine for nearly two months, and God has been teaching me so much! He is speaking to me everyday, and I have changed so much since I’ve been here, but the real change started even before I came to DTS.
For a long time God has been speaking to me about faith and trust, and Philippians 4:6 has been on my heart for years, though I have always had such a difficult time trying to grasp it. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication let your requests be known to God.” -NKJV This is a very challenging verse for me because it does not say do not be anxious about some things, or most things, but about anything! Some people only worry about very important things, but if you are anything like I was, then you worry about everything! I would worry about the walk from my door to my driveway! But whether it is a small or big thing, God instructs us to not worry about it! If your car breaks down, if you can’t pay your rent, if you get into an argument with a friend, if you lose your job, God says not to worry! He does not ask that we should ignore the problem, or be apathetic to it, but that we would submit ourselves to Him in prayer, and that we would cast all of our cares down at His feet.

Worrying about the future is sinful because we are trying to be like God; we are trying to be omniscient, thinking that we can know what will happen in the future, and omnipresent, thinking that we can control the future. Because we can’t do either of these things, then what is the purpose in worrying? All of our worries and anxieties were crucified with Jesus on the cross, so that now we may live in freedom!
So what does this look like in every day life? It can seem overwhelming at first, but it starts with the little things. When I was preparing to travel to Ukraine, many worries began surfacing in my head. But whenever I would think about something that would be practical to worry about, I could feel Jesus softly telling me “don’t worry about it, I’m in control.” He would simply urge me to think about something else. It is amazing to remember that when we walk in the will of Jesus, He will prepare a way for us!
I am so glad to report that I have not had a single worry since I’ve been here that Jesus did not take control of for me! “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1-2) -NKJV.
I encourage you to read all of Psalm 27, as well as Psalm 23, and Psalm 37:3-6. Meditate on these, and cast all your cares at the feet of Jesus!”
